Deal · Walmer · Kingsdown · Mill Hill · Sholden · Great Mongeham · Ripple · CT14
Fencing, gates and decking across Deal and the CT14 villages. Beach-front salt-air specification, Kingsdown clifftop wind-load builds, Middle Street Conservation Area heritage work. Fixed prices, quoted from photos, honest turnaround.
What I do
Specified for beach-front salt-air corrosion, Kingsdown clifftop wind exposure, the chalk substrate under Ringwould, and the heritage frontages of the Middle Street Conservation Area. Mid-C20th Mill Hill and Sholden estates get standard closeboard on concrete posts. Ripple and Great Mongeham get the longer agricultural-adjacent runs.
The Deal default. 1.5m to 1.8m featheredge board on treated arris rails, concrete posts and gravel boards, supplied and fitted to a fixed price quoted from photos.
Closeboard scopeOverlap, waneyedge and premium tongue-and-groove panels in concrete-post-and-gravel-board runs. Straight substitute for tired panel boundaries on Mill Hill and Sholden estates.
Panel scopePainted picket for cottage frontages in Middle Street and Walmer, plus heritage-black pointed picket for the front gardens where the conservation officer will be looking.
Picket scopeGalvanised steel security fencing for commercial yards on the Deal industrial estate and the Sandwich Road corridor. Powder-coated to spec, installed to a fixed price quoted from photos.
Security scopeTimber and metal pedestrian gates. Single and double driveway gates. Cedar-clad on beach-front frontages. Fixed price quoted from photos.
Gates scopeSoftwood and composite decking, installed to a fixed price quoted from photos. Ground screws over chalk on Kingsdown, ballast pads on sandy soil closer to town.
Decking scopeConcrete-post retrofits into existing timber-post fence lines. Long-run cost saver on the boundary and the right call on any clifftop-exposed job.
Post upgrade scopeSingle-panel and single-post repairs, quoted from photos. Storm damage after an easterly blow, wood-rot at ground level, kissed-over posts after a fence-post-heave winter.
Repair scopeWhy local matters
Three coastal micro-climates inside a ten-minute drive. Beach Street and the seafront take the full east wind and salt spray off the Channel, and any ironmongery specced under marine grade will corrode inside two winters. Kingsdown clifftop, three miles south, is one of the most wind-exposed residential clusters in Kent - a standard 600mm post depth will lift out under sustained easterly load, and concrete-post-and-gravel-board is the only sensible build. The Middle Street Conservation Area, one of the best-preserved Georgian streets in the country, is a different problem again: Dover District Council's conservation officer expects fence heights, materials and paint colours to fit the Georgian streetscape.
Inland the picture eases. Mill Hill and Sholden are mid-C20th estates with longer back gardens where closeboard on concrete posts is the default and the pricing is closest to a plain Kent quote. Great Mongeham and Ripple are the agricultural-adjacent villages - post-and-rail, stock-fence and long boundary runs for horse paddocks. Walmer sits in between: seafront cottages on Beach Street with the same salt-air spec as Deal, larger inland homes off The Strand with regular closeboard work.
Middle Street & heritage frontages
The Middle Street Conservation Area is Georgian streetscape at its best-preserved. Anything above 1m adjacent to a highway needs Dover District Council planning consent, and inside the conservation boundary the review is stricter than the standard permitted-development test. In practice most front-boundary work runs at 900mm or under, and heritage-fence style - vertical picket painted heritage black or dark grey, oak or estate-grade softwood - is what neighbours and the conservation officer expect. I walk you through the drawing pack before we commit.
The promise
If the fence is not level, plumb, straight and finished to the standard we agreed on the quote, you tell me and I fix it. If I cannot fix it to your satisfaction, you do not pay for the labour. That is a plain warranty, not a small-print one.
Send photos and a postcode for a fixed-price quote on straightforward runs. Once the price is agreed it is the price. If the ground turns out worse than the photos suggested - a buried concrete stump, an old brick footing - that is my problem, not yours.
Every job leaves you with a full set of completion photos - post concrete, board fix, finished elevation, hardware detail. Useful for landlords keeping records, useful for insurance, and useful the next time a storm blows in and you need to compare the state of the fence.
Where I work
CT14 covers Deal town, Walmer, Kingsdown, Mill Hill, Sholden, Great Mongeham, Ripple and the smaller clusters up to Sandwich Bay. Same trade, three coastal micro-climates, one consistent standard.
Georgian frontages on Middle Street and the Beach Street conservation area, Victorian terraces off the High Street, and the fishing-beach frontage where salt-air spec is non-negotiable. Heritage-fence conversations for anything front-facing.
Walmer Castle village with a mix of seafront cottages and larger inland homes. Kingsdown clifftop is the wind-exposure story - 750mm post depths, concrete posts, gravel boards, upgraded hardware, chalk-substrate augering.
The inland CT14 villages where the coastal weather eases. Longer back gardens, standard closeboard-on-concrete-post runs, and the agricultural-adjacency work in Ripple with post-and-rail and stock-fence boundaries.
