Fence repair is Deal's most common fencing job outside a full replacement. An easterly blow comes through in January, a panel goes in the middle of a run, and the neighbours' cat is now in your garden. Or a spring thaw follows a hard freeze, and a run of posts that were slightly leaning last autumn are now kissed-over. Or the ground-line rot on a ten-year-old boundary finally catches up with a couple of posts and the whole run starts to sag.
What I fix
Single-panel repairs: pull the damaged panel, check the flanking posts, drop in a replacement panel matched to the existing profile. Overlap for overlap, waneyedge for waneyedge, closeboard for closeboard. Match on grade where possible, upgrade on grade where the existing is failing anyway.
Single-post repairs: dig out the rotted or kissed-over post, replace with concrete-post-and-gravel-board on any Deal or Kingsdown coastal boundary (a timber-post-for-timber-post like-for-like on the coast is bad-value work - the replacement will fail in the same timeframe), re-fix the flanking panels or arris rails.
Storm-damage runs: after a January easterly a whole section can go - panels flat, posts snapped, arris rails split. The right call is often a full concrete-post-and-gravel-board retrofit on that section, matching new panels or closeboard above.
How pricing works
Single panel replacement and single post replacement to concrete are both quoted from photos - post replacement includes the post, gravel board and flanking re-fix, and pricing depends on grade. Section runs quoted from photos too. Turnaround is same-week on standard Deal, Walmer and Sholden jobs, next-day on urgent post-storm calls where a boundary is open to the neighbours.
What is not a repair
A fence line where every third or fourth post is failing, and half the boundary is leaning, is past the repair window and into the concrete-post retrofit or the full-replacement conversation. I will tell you which one is the right call from the photos before I quote - no talking a customer into a repair that will not last past the next winter.
